Playwright and new RSC Trustee Winsome Pinnock has been awarded the Golden & Ruth Harris Commission to support the creation of a new theatrical work.
Launched by Tony-nominated playwright Jeremy O. Harris and New York Theatre Workshop, the commission is designed to allow artists at all stages of their careers to focus on creating a new theatrical work without the need to seek income elsewhere for a year.
Winsome will receive $50,000 from the commission, and was awarded alongside Sydney Chatman, a Chicago-based writer and director.
Winsome is one of five new trustees recently appointed to our Board. Her plays include Rockets and Blue Lights, Glutathione and The Principles of Cartography. She has previously received the Alfred Fagon Award – which was won last year by Juliet Gilkes Romero for her production of The Whip in the Swan Theatre – and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2020.
