This week 258 young people from across the country are performing a relaxed version of Hamlet in the Swan Theatre as part of our annual Playmaking Festival.
On Tuesday (9 July), pupils from our associate primary, secondary and SEND schools in Warwickshire, Northampton, Staffordshire, County Durham and Kent performed and on Friday (12 July) it's the turn of pupils from our local schools in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The Playmaking Festival takes places every year, when we celebrate young people and their creativity, as part of our Associate Schools Programme. Playmaking Festivals take place in schools, theatres across the country and in Stratford-upon-Avon. Young people and their teachers approach these texts as our actors do; something to be explored and understood together as we create performance.
The focus of this year's festival is access and inclusivity and alongside BSL interpretation and captioning, there will be chillout zones and adjustments to lighting and sound. Before the performance on the 9 July there will also be a short sensory story devised and presented by teachers and students from a group of schools led by Welcombe Hills SEN school in Stratford-upon-Avon.
