One of our original Next Generation cohort, Nico Cetrulo, is preparing to graduate from ArtsEd and become a professional actor.
Nico was part of our first group of Next Generation actors and is the first member of the programme to go on to train and enter the profession.
During his time at the RSC, Nico performed as Phao in Sapho and Phao and as Lorenzo in our First Encounters production of The Merchant of Venice. After leaving Next Generation Act when he turned 18, Nico secured a place at ArtsEd, one of the top drama schools in the UK.
Nico said: "My time with Next Generation cannot be described in words. The detailed connections between professional mentoring, industry knowledge and workshopping the Shakespearean language was all done with precision. I recall such tight and busy schedules with rehearsals, sightseeing, watching a production in the evening, but this would always be accompanied with smiles. The love and support we felt from the RSC is what made us love it even more."
Next Generation is our talent development programme for young people who want to pursue a career in theatre, either on or off stage. Most recently, young actors from the programme took part in our production of Henry VI: Rebellion alongside the professional cast.
