Sophia Goodman joined the company at the Cambridge Theatre, London in the role of Matilda Wormwood, the eponymous heroine, alongside Victoria Alsina, Laurel Sumberg and Heidi Williams.
The award-winning Matilda The Musical also welcomed Sekhani Dumezweni, Aidan Oti and Joseph Sharpe in the role of Bruce Bogtrotter.
This anarchic musical recently received its 101st award and is now booking in the Cambridge Theatre, London up to May 2024.
Earlier this year members of the company also performed at the National Lottery’s Big Night of Musicals filmed in front of a live audience at Manchester's AO Arena. The programme will be shown in a special 90-minute presentation on BBC One and on BBC Radio 2 later this spring.
Matilda The Musical premiered in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2010, before transferring to London's West End. It has since toured North America, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland, South Africa and China. The first non-English language production opened in Seoul, South Korea in 2018 where it has just played its second season.
This month, Matilda The Musical will play for the first time in Japan at the Orb theatre in Tokyo, before moving to Osaka at Umeda Arts centre in May, Tel Aviv in August and Dubai Opera in October.
The film version of Matilda The Musical is available to download and the DVD/Bluray are available to purchase and will be released on Netflix UK this summer.
