The brand-new verbatim play in association with LUNG is performed and supported by the RSC’s Next Generation programme.
Production photography has been released for Factory, a brand-new verbatim play presented by RSC Next Generation Act young company, in association with LUNG, and supported by Next Generation Backstage and Direct.
Commissioned by the RSC as one of a series of events and productions celebrating 20 years of the RSC’s long-term partnerships with schools, theatres and communities this autumn, the play has been created by multi-award-winning campaign-led arts charity Lung.
Factory brings together the voices of young people, teachers, headteachers, school staff and policymakers from across the education sector, including RSC Associate Schools, and examines the changing status of creativity and imagination within the education system and the impact of a world shaped by grades, targets and behaviour points.
The production uses the disruption of Covid to question what value society places on the arts and finds hope in the teachers, young people and communities determined to keep imagination alive.
Factory is performed in the Studio Theatre at The Other Place, 16-19 September 2026.
