SYNOPSIS

Two young women try to salvage their romantic relationship after an act of infidelity. In the process one of them confronts her neglectful mother years after their separation, while the other tries to discover her independence as she navigates a callous justice system- in doing so she reminds a man "just doing his job" of his humanity.

About the playwright

Hayley-Rose started writing two years ago during her second year of acting training at Rose Bruford when she applied to the Royal Court’s Intro to Playwriting programme, and completed it the following year. The programme coincided with the Rose Bruford New Writing season, and it was Hayley-Rose’s two plays for these which merged to become the first version of Effort//less. The play went through a few redrafts before being sharpened up for the 37 Plays project, where she is thrilled to be working with the Hall for Cornwall team.
