We work in partnership with schools, theatres, universities and other organisations both across the UK and internationally

Our creative work is artist-led, resonant and daring, made with the most exciting and diverse artists from the UK and around the world – with diverse partners and audiences always at the centre.

RSC Learning aims to make Shakespeare vivid, accessible and enjoyable for students of all ages and their teachers. Our long-term partnerships offer a bespoke programme of work tailored to the needs of individual institutions, staff and student bodies.

Our Approach

We believe that Shakespeare’s plays and making theatre can inspire positive change and action in people of all ages. Our approach prioritises the professional development of teachers so that more young people’s experiences of Shakespeare’s plays are rooted in the real-world work of actors and directors in the rehearsal room, understanding and redefining what Shakespeare means to us now.

OUR AIM

Our aim is to work with partners who share our vision for Shakespeare and the arts in education – that they are a means through which young people can find their voice and begin to explore who they are now as well as who they might be in the future. Together, we can help to unlock potential by developing life, language and theatre skills.

Our Evidence

We have a significant and compelling body of evidence illustrating the impact of our approach on student development.  A partnership with RSC Learning offers the opportunity to be in dialogue with one of the world’s leading theatre companies, joining an international community of practice.

HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER

Work with teachers, students and faculty

By working with RSC Artists and Associate Learning Practitioners, our workshops can help teachers and students to challenge and explore the relevance of Shakespeare's works to our lives and world today. We want young people to have the kind of joyful encounters with Shakespeare’s work that lift their aspirations, unlock potential and create belief and self-confidence in their own abilities.

Performance outcomes

RSC Artists can work directly with teachers and students to help form performances based on Shakespeare’s work. Our workshops explore characters, scenes and themes using practical techniques from the RSC rehearsal room, supporting students in understanding how a play moves from the rehearsal room into a final performance.

Digital

Through our Shakespeare Learning Zone and library of additional digital resources we can help to support home learning and in the classroom. Our partners can gain access to recordings of previous productions from the RSC, including live cast and creative Q&A sessions, to enhance the studying of a text and experience an RSC production on screen.

Marketing and Communications

Our partners enjoy high visibility through alignment with the world's most recognised theatre company. We can work with your organisation to develop a range of marketing and communications opportunities to amplify the partnership, including a collaboration announcement, a dedicated partnership page on the RSC website, and logo acknowledgement across RSC marketing collateral.

Our International Partnerships

A partnership with RSC Learning offers the opportunity to create transformative experiences for and with young people to learn about and engage with Shakespeare’s plays across the UK and internationally.

Each year we typically work with over 1,000 state schools in the UK. Our international partners pay a fee to the RSC which is invested back into our work.
