The RSC is in a five-year learning partnership with the University of Minnesota and CEACAPA.
THE PARTNERSHIP
The partnership sees BFA Acting students take part in an annual programme of workshops in Stratford-upon-Avon and London across the fall semester, with RSC Artists and Practitioners, led by an RSC Director and delivered via CEA CAPA Study Abroad.
In the first year of the programme, the students worked with director Aaron Parsons and began the semester with a three-day residency at the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon, taking part in a series of workshops, talks, and tours, seeing productions of Macbeth and The Merchant of Venice 1936. They also attended performances of the award-winning My Neighbour Totoro and the sold-out stage adaptation of Hamnet. The semester concluded with the students putting their learning into practice, performing a production of Henry V at Hoxton Hall, London on Thanksgiving.
In 2024, the student cohort participated in an intensive two-week process of daily workshops and rehearsals which culminated in a performance of Macbeth directed by Aaron Parsons, which took place in the Swan Theatre, giving students the opportunity to perform on an RSC stage.
Last year, as well as seeing Sam Heughan (Outlander) make his RSC debut as Macbeth, students worked with RSC Artists to develop their understanding of Shakespeare with a performance of The Winter's Tale directed by Fi Ross. We also look forward to planning workshops for students in April 2027.
