3. Lisa, what does a typical day in rehearsals look like for you?
Working with animals is no different to working with children and adult actors, other than getting through a few more treats! They need rehearsal time to be confident in the acting actions that are required, and to familiarise themselves with their co-workers and - in particular - the actors they are working alongside.
Being live theatre, as a handler we have to hand the reigns over to our amazing actors to be in control of our acting animals while onstage, so it is extremely important for them to form a bond. The most important thing in any typical day is that our animal actor is enjoying what they are doing.
4. Lisa, what are the best and most challenging things about your job?
The most challenging part of my job is being able to turn up and fulfill the expectations of what any director envisions. The best part is when you and the animal are able to deliver that.
5. Alan, does Lossi have a daily routine to keep acting fit?
Yes - Lossi has her routine which consists of morning runs on Redcar Beach and evening walks in our local country park. During the day, she eats, sleeps and watches PetFlix.
When she receives a role, Lossi likes to read her scripts of an evening, and prepare with her family who are all in showbiz.
