Our supporter Frank Benson wrote about his reasons for leaving us a legacy gift. He sadly died in January 2015. Read his story here.
Why I decided to leave a legacy gift to the RSC
'Let's choose executors and talk of wills.' - Richard II
I enjoy theatre and am passionate about Shakespeare. I support the Royal Shakespeare Company annually with my Shakespeare Circle contribution because I like to feel involved with the theatre.
I have great admiration for the RSC and its work, and I appreciate the help I receive from the Development Department and the front of house staff. I decided to also make a legacy pledge because more of my money will be available when my estate is wound up. I want to make a contribution in particular to the future of the RSC.
I hope that by talking openly about legacy giving it may encourage people enthusiastic about the RSC to make a gift in their Will too. It is simple and does not affect your standard of living. Everybody should make a Will. In my case I instructed my solicitor to add the Royal Shakespeare Company to my bequests – it was that simple.
Frank Benson
We were very sad to hear that Frank passed away at his home on Friday 30 January 2015. He was 87. Frank was a regular theatre goer and supporter of ours. We will miss his wisdom, his cheerful smile and his abundant energy. His family feel Frank would be happy for us to continue to share his story and enthusiasm about supporting us with a legacy gift.
