Course Content
Each day of your course will focus on learning how to use our rehearsal room approaches to teach Shakespeare. We do not require you to do any pre-reading ahead of the course or familiarise yourself with any Shakespeare play.
Our Foundation and Intermediate courses have tasks that we will ask you to complete between the 2nd and 3rd days whilst teaching back in your school. We recommend that all course participants plan to teach at least one lesson on Shakespeare during this period.
Our Advanced course also includes an action research project.
If you have any questions about the content of your Certificate course, please contact us to discuss: teachers.courses@rsc.org.uk
Writing Materials
We will provide copies of the text excerpts we will be working on each day, in addition to RSC notebooks for you to make notes and reflections. Please keep hold of your notebook to use each time you return to our courses. Full and detailed notes of all activities will be sent to you following the course.
Clothing
As the course content will mostly be practical work based on our rehearsal room approaches, please wear flat shoes and comfortable clothing that you can move around in.
Catering and Dietary Requirements
We will be providing light refreshments (tea, coffee and, most importantly, chocolate biscuits) each day. Please bring your own hot drinks container and your own water bottle. In line with our environmental policy we may not have disposable cups available for you.
If you have any specific dietary requirements, please let us know as soon as possible by contacting: teachers.courses@rsc.org.uk
Absence Protocols
If you are feeling unwell, we advise you not to attend the course and to let us know as soon as possible. Depending on availability on future courses, we will try to accommodate making up any days missed.
If you are unable to attend your course due to reasons other than illness, such as the cover circumstances in your school have changed, we will do our best to accommodate you on a future course. However, we cannot guarantee this and encourage you to attend on the dates booked if at all possible. All bookings are subject to our ticketing terms and conditions.
